Getting Started with VORTX

Welcome to your first steps into prediction markets! This guide will walk you through everything you need to know to start trading the future on VORTX.

What Are Prediction Markets? (In Simple Terms)

Think of prediction markets like a stock market, but instead of buying shares in companies, you're buying shares in future events.

Example:

  • Event: "Will Bitcoin reach $150,000 by December 2025?"

  • You can buy YES shares if you think it will happen

  • Or buy NO shares if you think it won't

  • When the event concludes, winning shares are worth $1 each, losing shares become worthless

Why This Is Powerful:

  • You can change your mind and sell your shares anytime before the event ends

  • Prices reflect what the crowd thinks will happen (if YES shares cost $0.70, the market thinks there's a 70% chance)

  • You can profit from being right about future events

The VORTX Magic: YES and NO Tokens

Every market on VORTX creates exactly two types of tokens:

  • 🟢 YES Tokens: "I think this will happen"

  • 🔴 NO Tokens: "I think this won't happen"

The Golden Rule: 1 YES + 1 NO = $1 USDT (always!)

This means if YES tokens cost $0.70, then NO tokens cost $0.30. The prices always add up to $1.

Three Ways to Participate

1. Buy Tokens (Directional Betting)

If you have an opinion about the outcome:

  • Buy YES tokens if you think the event will happen

  • Buy NO tokens if you think it won't happen

  • Sell your tokens anytime before resolution

2. Provide Liquidity (Market Making)

If you want to earn from trading activity:

  • Deposit USDT into any market

  • Receive equal amounts of YES and NO tokens

  • Sell the tokens you don't want, keep the ones you do

  • Or sell both gradually to earn from the spread

Example: Deposit $100 USDT → Get 100 YES + 100 NO tokens → Sell what you don't want

3. Trade the Spreads (Advanced)

If you want to profit from price movements:

  • Buy low, sell high on either token type

  • Take advantage of price discrepancies

  • Provide liquidity by placing limit orders

Your First Trade: Quick Walkthrough

Understanding a Market

Market: "Will SpaceX land on Mars before 2030?"

  • 🟢 YES tokens: $0.35 each (35% chance according to the crowd)

  • 🔴 NO tokens: $0.65 each (65% chance it won't happen)

Making Your Move

If you think SpaceX has a 60% chance:

  • Buy YES tokens at $0.35 (you think they're undervalued)

  • Or provide liquidity: deposit $100 → get 100 YES + 100 NO → sell the 100 NO tokens at $0.65

If you think SpaceX has only 20% chance:

  • Buy NO tokens at $0.65

  • Or deposit and sell your YES tokens

Types of Orders Explained

Market Orders: "I Want It Now"

  • ✅ Instant execution at current price

  • ❌ Pay 0.5% fee

  • Best for: Quick trades when you want immediate exposure

Limit Orders: "I'll Wait for My Price"

  • ✅ Zero fees (you're providing liquidity)

  • ✅ Exact price control

  • ❌ No guarantee of execution

  • Best for: Patient traders who want better prices

Market Making: Earning from Both Sides

Market making is a powerful strategy where you provide liquidity and earn from trading activity:

How It Works

  1. Deposit USDT into any market

  2. Receive both tokens (same amount of each, split automatically)

  3. Choose your strategy:

    • Sell the side you disagree with, keep the other

    • Sell both sides gradually at different prices

    • Hold both until resolution (guaranteed $1 back per pair)

Why Market Make?

  • Zero fees on your limit orders

  • Earn the spread between buy and sell prices

  • Less directional risk (you're not betting on one outcome)

  • Steady profits from providing liquidity

Simple Example

  • Market: "Will it rain tomorrow?" (YES: $0.40, NO: $0.60)

  • You deposit $100 → get 100 YES + 100 NO

  • Sell YES at $0.42, sell NO at $0.62

  • If both sell: you made $4 profit regardless of outcome

Reading Market Signals

Price as Probability

  • YES at $0.25 = 25% chance

  • YES at $0.50 = 50/50 toss-up

  • YES at $0.80 = 80% chance

Spotting Opportunities

  • Market says 30%, you think 60% → Buy YES or deposit and sell NO

  • Market says 70%, you think 40% → Buy NO or deposit and sell YES

  • You're unsure → Consider market making to earn from activity

Common Beginner Tips

Start Smart

  • Begin with small amounts to learn the mechanics

  • Pick markets you understand (avoid complex topics initially)

  • Use limit orders when possible to avoid fees

Avoid These Mistakes

  • Don't buy both YES and NO tokens separately (just deposit USDT instead)

  • Don't confuse token prices with "cheap" vs "expensive" (focus on probabilities)

  • Don't forget about the 2% fee when you claim winnings

Position Sizing

  • Conservative: 1-2% of your account per market

  • Moderate: 3-5% per market

  • Remember: You can lose your entire position if you're wrong

What Makes VORTX Different

  • True limit orders: No surprise executions

  • Fair fees: 0% for market makers, 0.5% for takers
